While we are always obsessed with all the newest and coolest fashion trends that we can incorporate into our day to day on the go life, one of these trends we just can’t get enough is color blocking.

From the runway of Paris fashion week to Newbury Street store windows and chic women out lunching, color blocking is everywhere! While the trend can be done simply by pairing brights such as a tangerine sweater with a magenta A-line skirt and electric blue heels, topping it all off with a beautiful bright Open Runway tote completes your color blocking look.  Here are a few Open Runway bags that are perfect for this stylish color blocking trend.

The California Fuchsia Tasseled Handbag

Open Runway Tasseled Tote

This beautiful fuchsia handbag is a great color blocking piece. The bright color pops against an already saturated array of colors and complements any bright outfit perfectly.

Another chic color blocking tote, the Charturse Leather and Aquamarine Snake Uptown Bag

The Uptown bag is an amazing structured bag perfect for color blocking and pulling any outfit together. The chartreuse and aquamarine contrast on the bag accentuates any color blocking outfit. This bag is sure to get you noticed, in all the right ways!

These bags are great for color blocking with any outfit, but can also be worn with any outfit to simply add a touch of color or brighten up your everyday style.

Color blocking and bright bags are the trend right now and we certainly approve!

Tangerine Tango, a “spirited reddish orange,” was named 2012 Color of The Year by color expert Pantone, and has befittingly become the new color in vogue. A multitude of designers incorporated the bright hue into their Spring/Summer collections and many celebrities have been spotted wearing the vibrant tone. Cosmetics company Sephora has even teamed up with Pantone to create a limited-edition make-up, accessories, and nail polish line based on the vivacious color.

The brilliant pigment may seem daunting at first, but is really quite simple to integrate into your beauty regime, wardrobe, or household because of its versatility — there is a shade for everyone! If you’re feeling bold, try a statement tangerine blazer. Too much for you? Put on a pair of bright orange pumps or clementine colored lipstick. Adding a little orange to your outfit is an easy way to brighten your mood and your day.

I love the energy associated with tangerine! I’m definitely going to be sporting orange accessories this summer. Want to design your own Tangerine Tango looks? Head over to the Open Runway Design Studio to start creating your own custom shoes and handbags! Tweet @OpenRunway your designs.

Tabitha Simmons, fashion stylist and Contributing Editor to Vogue, designed the amazing shoes featured in Creature of the Wind’s Fall 2012 show at New York Fashion Week. The footwear is an eclectic mixture of various shoe styles, including loafers, mary-janes, and gladiators, with lots of straps and tassels for added drama. The colors range from bleach black to metallic gold with pops of teal and mustard. I love the juxaposition of blue-green against bright gold and I definitely see the color combination being a huge trend when autumn rolls around with the high-fashion crowd.

Katy Perry, always a fashion leader, looked absolutely fabulous at the Grammys, pairing a stunning gold dress with blue-green hair. The contrast of the hues is undoubtedly a bold fashion statement. Not everyone can pull off teal hair, but it certainly suits Katy.

I was so inspired that I decided to create my own shoes based on the teal and gold color scheme. I challenge all of you to channel your inner designer and construct your own shoes based on any of trends shown throughout New York, London, or Milan Fashion Week. Hot apple cider, haunted houses, cute bundled up trick-or-treaters, and pumpkin carving- all sure signs Halloween is near! The way Santa Claus is associated with Christmas- whenever I hear the word Halloween, black and orange instantly come to mind. In honor of this spooktastic day, I thought we could take a look at how some of our favorite celebrities rock black and orange, on their arm!

Last night, the 63rd annual Emmy awards took place at the Nokia Theatre  in Los Angeles.  The red carpet was ablaze with stars in red- clearly the color of choice for the night!  Lets take a look at some of our favorite red looks.

Nina Dobrev from The Vampire Diaries stole the show in this red floor-length gown.

Glee’s Lea Michele looked stunning and sophisticated in this solid red number.

Actress Kerry Washington dazzled in a fiery red gown and matching red clutch.

Donning a floor length deep red gown, Kate Winslet looked as gorgeous as always on the red carpet.

By now you may be saying, “alright alright, they all look absolutely gorgeous in these gowns…but what about the shoes?!” (Or at least thats would I would say).  No worries, I found my favorite look of the Emmy’s last night, which conveniently happened to incorporate bright red platform pumps (which, after all may have had something to do with why it was my favorite look)

Any the winner is….

Kaley Cuoco won in my book for the most fun look of the night. I love the elegance of her one shoulder black gown, but the pops of red courtesy of her peep toe pumps and clutch made this Big Bang Theory actress take home the gold for best dressed! Color blocking has taken the fashion world by storm!  This popular trend, wearing two or more blocks of color in one ensemble, will not only continue into the fall, but also continue to make a bold statement well into the spring.  No need to look too close at the NYC fall fashion week runway (going on now!) for it to be evident that designers are eating up this trend, just as much as those confident enough to wear it are. Thankfully, “fall bights” are in this season.  Standout from the crowd by combining these two popular trends to create a statement!

How to Master it:

  • Color blocking on steroids is not what we are after here- just like white in the winter, a little goes a long way.  You don’t “win” for wearing the most colors at one time, folks.
  • Try to combine a pop of color with other neutrals such as black, gray, white, or brown, especially at first if you are hesitant.
  • That being said, this is not a trend to be shy with! Don’t be afraid to experiment mixing colors that you normally would never wear together, but still compliment one another.  Nervous? A great way to do this is to start with solids.  Try pairing a solid bright dress with a different color solid bright shoe that, conventionally, may not “go together” and see what happens!
  • Beware of mixing color blocked garments or accessories- if you are wearing a color-blocked purse, please do not wear a rainbow inspired pantsuit- sensory overload.
  • Most importantly have fun with it!  One of the reasons I love this trend so much is because it is so bold. It emits a confidence that demands attention!

Often I get frustrated when I can’t find exactly what I am looking for, this is especially true when it comes to color-blocked shoes and handbags.  With Open Runway’s design studio, you can create exactly what you want, what you can’t find anywhere else!

I love how these two complimentary colors work great with each other! The butterflies add a touch of feminine flair!

These bright bold colors pop when paired next to one another. Embossed crocodile leather creates an exotic and sophisticated style!

With the end of August coming to a close, my favorite season is just around the corner…fall.  We’ve scoured the runways, and selected some of our favorite looks for  fall’s hottest shoe trends.  Using Open Runway’s innovative design studio, I created a collection my favorite must-have’s for the upcoming fall!

Suede

This perfect transition shoe is appropriate for those still hot summer days, but will carry over into the fall, flawlessly. Suede is all the rage, and will continue to be well into the next season. Metallic gold print on this jet black ultramatte suede gives this shoe some sparkle!

Reptile

Reptile was seen all over the runway for the fall and winter seasons. This classic snakeskin is sure to set mouth's watering. I particularly love the covered wedge (another trend that will be sticking around) for an exotic chic look that won't go overlooked!

Patent

Since few women can resist the allure of patent, we were not surprised to see it everywhere on the fall fashion runway. This bronze and burgundy patent platform sandal is one of my favorites. Finished off with a half bow in fabulous copper metallic snake, with rhinestones adorned-this pair is sure to be a head turner at your next big-night-out!

 Embellishments

Bows will be HUGE for the fall season. I love the sophisticated look of this flat- from the luxurious camel croc to the golden saffron piping, finished off perfectly with a navy blue bow embellishment. This creation not only combines style trends for fall, but the versatile color palette as well!

Just because summer is almost over, does't mean that we can't still have fun with flowers! I love the breezy, fun natured feeling that this pump emanates. Worn with tights and a skirt or skinny jeans, you will leave everyone wondering where they can get a pair for their very own!

Stiletto Heel

This come-hither heel, has a mysterious power that instantly adds boldness to any women's disposition! I am obsessed with this peep-toe platform pump in navy blue croc. A mary-jane strap with locket adds fabulous flair. I need these, like yesterday...

I hope you have fallen in love with next season’s fall fashions just like we have at Open Runway.  Which fall fashion creation is your favorite?  Don’t have a favorite yet? Then create you perfect shoe in our design studio at openrunway.com, and share it with us. Let us know in comments!

No, (unfortunately) I’m not referring to hunky David Beckham- or the mysterious Robert Pattinson.  Today I want to take a look at some studded out celebs.  Many people are nervous to take on this rock ‘n roll inspired trend.  I want to show everyone that if done tastefully, it can add instant flair to an otherwise ordinary outfit.  Whether splashed across a handbag, or in a chic pattern on a pump, studs are great way to kick it up a notch!

A subtle stud can add texture to a plain bag as Kristen Cavallari demonstrates.  Or, for the more brave of heart? An in-your-face black studded bag is sure to attract attention like the one Lady Gaga is carrying- wouldn’t want to run into her in a dark alley while she was carrying that!

Studs don’t have to just be worn as an accessory on a handbag. Kim Kardashian was recently spotted wearing this trench coat with studded sleeves.  A new take on the classic silhouette, these studs add pizazz to create a fun yet sophisticated look.

My personal favorite studded look? The pump.  After all, who could forget when on the set of Sex and the City 2, Sarah Jessica Parker wore those infamous lavender suede studded pumps?  Paired with a plaid shirt and light-wash jeans, proof that studs can turn any outfit into something quite studtacular!

Inspired by studs- I took some of my current favorite trends and using Open Runway’s Design Studio, created a pair of my perfect pumps!  Stiletto platform suede studded peep toe pumps- what could get any better than that?

My perfect pump, created in the Open Runway Design Studio!
